Zenva Schools has proudly served as a key education partner in the ICT Gateway to Industry Schools Project (GISP), which is managed by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and funded by the Queensland Government through the Department of Trade, Employment and Training – for the past three years.
Through this initiative, we have delivered digital technologies training to over 4,100 students who completed 283,000 lessons, across 40 Queensland schools.
The program offered an extensive suite of online, curriculum-aligned courses covering core digital skills including coding, cybersecurity, networks, and data handling – as well as creative fields such as digital art and game development.

These courses were designed specifically for classroom use, featuring flexible learning pathways that catered to a wide range of skill levels. Teachers could easily tailor activities and projects to meet individual learning needs, ensuring that both advanced learners and those requiring additional support could thrive.
Teachers participating in the program consistently reported improved student engagement, enthusiasm, and perseverance. For many, the most significant benefit came from the platform’s flexible structure and time-saving features, including pre-packaged unit plans, curriculum mapping, and built-in quizzes that offered immediate insights into student progress.

Instead of having to create materials from scratch, educators could focus on supporting their learners in more meaningful ways – guiding them through coding tasks, helping them solve problems, or encouraging them to explore their creativity. By providing a blend of video lessons, text resources, code samples, and hands-on projects, the platform made complex concepts accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Students, too, embraced this approach. Many discovered that the skills they were developing had direct relevance to the world beyond the classroom. Text-based coding projects, for instance, not only improved computational thinking but also encouraged innovation, logic, and problem-solving – all attributes that employers now highly value. Students relished opportunities to create their own apps, games, and digital solutions, often extending their learning beyond school hours to refine their projects and explore more advanced courses on their own.
Overall, the impact of the GISP initiative with Zenva Schools has been both substantial and transformative. By enabling teachers to deliver authentic, curriculum-aligned digital tech learning without investing endless hours into preparation, we helped foster meaningful educational experiences that students found relevant and exciting.
This approach ultimately empowered young Australians to become confident, future-ready innovators, well-equipped with the skills and mindsets needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
